A Novena in Honor of the Most Holy Name of Jesus
O Merciful Jesus! Who didst in Thine early infancy commence Thine office of Savior, by shedding Thy Precious Blood, and assuming for us that Name which is above all names; we thank Thee for such early proofs of Thine infinite love; we venerate Thy sacred Name, in union with the profound respect of the angel who first announced it to the earth, and unite our affections to the sentiments of tender devotion which the adorable Name of Jesus has in all ages enkindled in the hearts of Thy servants.
Animated with a firm faith in Thine unerring word, and penetrated with confidence in Thy mercy, we now most humbly remind Thee of the promise Thou hast made, that when two or more should assemble in Thy Name, Thou Thyself wouldst be in the midst of them. Come, then, into the midst of us, most amiable Jesus, for it is in Thy sacred Name we are here assembled. Come into our hearts, that Thy Holy Spirit may pray in and by us; and mercifully grant us, through that adorable Name, which is the joy of Heaven, the terror of hell, the consolation of the afflicted, and the solid ground of our unlimited confidence, all the petitions we make in this novena.
O blessed Mother of our Redeemer: who didst participate so deeply in the sufferings of thy dear Son, when He shed His Sacred Blood, and assumed for us the Name of Jesus: obtain for us through that adorable Name, the favors we petition in this novena. Beg also, that the most ardent love may imprint on our hearts that sacred Name, that it may be always in our minds, and frequently on our lips; that it may be our defense in temptations, our refuge in danger, during our lives, and our consolation and support in the hour of death. Amen.
Act of Reparation for Blasphemies Uttered
Against the Holy Name
The Sign which the angel gave the shepherds to help them find the new-born Savior, points to His lowliness: “This shall be a sign to you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” No other new-born baby who was wrapped in poor swaddling clothes and lying in a manger, a feeding trough for animals, could be found anywhere else but in a stable. Thus in lowliness the King of heaven, the Son of God, chose to be born, because he came to destroy the pride that had been the cause of man’s ruin.
The prophets had already foretold that our Redeemer was to be treated as the vilest of men on earth and that He was to be overwhelmed with insults. How much contempt had not Jesus indeed to suffer from men! He was called a drunkard, a trickster, a blasphemer and a heretic. What ignominies He endured in His Passion! His own disciples abandoned Him; one of them sold Him for thirty pieces of silver, and another denied having ever known Him. He was led in bonds through the streets like a criminal; He was scourged like a slave, ridiculed as a fool, crowned with thorns as a mock king, buffetted and spit upon, and finally left to die, hanging on a cross between two thieves, as the worst criminal in the world. “The noblest of all,” says Saint Bernard, “is treated as the vilest of all.” But the Saint adds, “The viler Thou art treated, the dearer Thou art to me.” The more I see Thee, my Jesus, despised and put to shame, the more dear and worthy of my love dost Thou become to me.
Prayer
O Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer, Son of the living God. behold, we kneel before Thee and offer Thee our reparation; we would make amends for all the blasphemies uttered against Thy holy name, for all the injuries done to Thee in the Blessed Sacrament, for all the irreverence shown toward Thine immaculate Virgin Mother, for all the calumnies and slanders spoken against Thy spouse, the holy Catholic and Roman Church. O Jesus, who hast said: “If you ask the Father anything in My name. He will give it to you,” we pray and beseech Thee for all our brethren who are in danger of sin; shield them from every temptation to fall away from the true faith; save those who are even now standing on the brink of the abyss; to all of them give light and knowledge of the truth, courage and strength for the conflict with evil, perseverance in faith and active charity! For this do we pray, most merciful Jesus, in Thy name, unto God the Father, with whom Thou livest and reignest in the unity of the Holy Ghost world without end. Amen.

Prayer for the Conversion or Return to Faith
O God, all hearts are in Thy Hands. Thou canst bend, as it pleases Thee, the most stubborn, and soften the most obdurate. I beseech Thee by the Holy Name, the Precious Blood, the Merits, Wounds and Divine Heart of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son, to grant the conversion we ask. Amen.

In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust, saying Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles and sorrows Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Thy Grace alone can assist me Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Thy Tender Love as a Father and Savior Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely Jesus, help me!
Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind Jesus, help me and never forsake me.
